Can I come and watch?
Yes. To watch, you don't need a pass: when you arrive, introduce yourself to the operations manager, stay in the guest areas and follow the rules posted at the field. To see if anyone is there, check the «At the field» page. At fly-ins and parties open to the public everyone is welcome: the dates are in the calendar.
Go to the page →Where is the field and how do I get there?
In Regione Pobbia, Castellengo, Cossato (Biella). From the Turin–Milan motorway take the Carisio exit, then the SS232 road. The map and directions are on the «Contact» page.
Go to the page →I've never flown: can I try?
Yes: the first try is free, with a school instructor, the club's trainer and buddy box. The instructor takes off, hands you the controls at altitude and can take them back at any moment. Book it on the «Try flying» page.
Go to the page →Do I need a licence to fly?
Not for the free trial: the instructor flies with you. To fly as a member you need the EASA A1/A3 certificate, taken online with a course and a test and valid for 5 years in the European Union, plus operator registration on d-flight with the QR code on every model.
Go to the page →How do I become a member?
Fill in the membership application on the «Join us» page: the board reviews it and then tells you how to pay. The fee is €130 a year, plus €40 for model flying insurance (a Generali policy through Liberi di Volare), and is renewed by 31 January each year. For minors the application is signed by a parent.
Go to the page →Do I need to buy a model to start?
No. For the first lessons the school provides the association's models and transmitters. Before the lessons it's worth spending a few hours on a PC simulator, as the rules require; you don't need it for the free trial.
Go to the page →Can young people learn?
Yes, young people are welcome and learn with a buddy box next to an experienced member. For minors, membership is signed by a parent.
Go to the page →I'm a member of another club: can I fly with you?
Yes. To fly as a guest you need the permission of the operations manager or of a member they have appointed: they check your A1/A3 certificate, insurance and d-flight QR in person and give you the code for the day. You enter it with your details from the QR page at the gate: the pass is valid for the day.
Go to the page →Can I bring my dog?
Yes, but the rules ask you to keep it on a lead at all times.
